Pilots in training II is a learning pack designed to be used by teachers within Scottish Schools. The pdf documents below can be downloaded and used in the classroom. It is hoped it will be used to achieve some of the required Experiences and Outcomes within the Curriculum for Excellence. The main document pitlp_1a contains background information and sets tasks for all levels with particular reference to Health and Wellbeing and Literacy. It references five particular activity sheets (pitactivity_sheet_aa-ea) designed to challenge the children and draw out their participation. The focus for younger children is Health and Wellbeing through active role play and fun games. There is also an element of craft work. Older children also focus on Health and Wellbeing with a particular focus on empathy and mental health for Senior Level children. Literacy is also a prominent feature of the tasks and children are encouraged to use their imaginations for creative writing tasks and to contemplate the importance of sources. All of the aspects highlighted here require the input of the teacher to draw out their own requirements from the tasks. The Pilots In Training Activity Pack (pitap_1a) and associated Activity Sheets(Aa-Ea) are designed to be used within the Curriculum for Excellence Framework and to be used to fulfill (at least in part) some of the Experiences and Outcomes for Literacy and Health and Wellbeing. It should however be noted that teachers can use the information provided here and the activity sheets as they wish. The Activity Sheets referenced in the main document are provided and can be printed if required. It was thought it might be helpful to outline some of the Experiences and Outcomes that can be achieved in full or in part by undertaking the tasks in reference to the various Activity Sheets Aa-Ea, however, it should be noted that this is simply guidance and the teacher will ultimately determine how they wish to use the resources here. The Activity Pack can also be used by youth groups or other organisations involved in creative writing, mental health issues, history and heritage or other interests.
